Congratulations and well done to Jack McDonnell who has had an amazing month in July. On Sunday 14th July 2019 when competing in the Senior Scratch Cup in Balbriggan he set a new course record with an amazing score of 64. The Amateur course record in Balbriggan was previously held by Colin Wilton shooting 67 in the Senior Scratch Cup in 2017. The professional course record of 65 is held by Gary Murphy and set while playing in the Pro Am in 2011.
Jack, playing in the Lady Captain’s Prize to the Men on 21st July 2019 did it again and shot an equally brilliant score bringing home an incredible score of 64 to break the Forrest Little Course Record. The previous course record for Forrest Little was set on the 31st March 2012 by Allan Kiernan who on that occasion brought home a terrific score of 65. Jack holds 2 other course records one for Killeen Castle Golf Club which he secured in 2017 and also for Rathmore Golf Club which he set in 2014, What can one say about this young golfer except that he is playing some remarkable golf and showing great skill in achieving such astonishing results. We are all delighted for Jack and great credit is due to him for playing such wonderful golf. Our Captain Padraic made a tribute to Jack’s great achievements and gave great praise to Jack on the Lady Captain’s presentation night and together with the Lady Captain presented Jack with a framed copy of his score card which will go on display on the wall of the Member’s Lounge in Forrest Little in due course
