Winter Leagues
With both winter league qualifying coming to a close (Ladies still have this weekend) the tension is hotting up. We have the men’s Quarter Finals starting tomorrow, fingers crossed for the weather; lets hope the lads and ladies all get a good night’s sleep and not be thinking about that first tee shot tomorrow!
Good luck to all.
Course & Greens
Every time we get a patch of dry and permit weather, the Irish climate comes back to bring reality in check!
While we can’t do anything about the rain and dryness on the course, there are certainly things that we, as members, can all do:
* Repair the pitch marks no one else wants to try putt across a 2” deep hole because you didn’t remember! So please make it habit to do your own plus 1 other!
* Sandbags Firstly, everyone should take one. Secondly, everyone should use it. Thirdly, everyone should return it to the stand after their round. 3 Simple steps… lets all do it and have a much better course?
* Raking bunkers Please rake your bunker shots after you. Even especially if it takes you 2/3 shots to get out of the bunker, please rake all of the shots, not just the last one. No matter how angry you get at yourself!
* Pace of Play The pace of play is not about keeping ahead of the group behind you, its about keeping up with the group ahead. If you start to lose ground, and you can’t close the gap, please let the group behind through if they are regularly waiting for you to move on.
Men's Lockers
Some locker spaces have opened up in the men’s locker rooms, both upper and lower lockers, if anyone is interested. This will be on a first come first served basis. Those on the waiting list will be contacted in due course also about the locker.
Tolley Shed
It has come to the attention of the office that there are 20+ electric trolleys in the shed storage, but who are not registered and paying for this space. If you are not being billed for the space in your memberships, you should not have your trolley in there! Please remove it and contact the office if you would like to apply for a space. Failure to take action, may result in the trolley being dumped in the skip.
Buggy Area
The club have decided to begin its investment in new electric club buggies. The first of these (4) will arrive early / Mid-April. As part of this, we will be doing some spring cleaning of the buggy areas, and some rejigging of peoples parking spots, to accommodate charging ports etc. Please look out for direct contact on this if you are a buggy owner.
Important: Buggy Owners
As part of the conditions of buggy use, all buggy owners must hold valid insurance for their buggy. The proof of insurance must be supplied to the club office and insurance disc displayed in their buggy front window at all times.
All buggy owners must have this in place before 31 March 2024. First Ireland are the club’s insurance broker and are happy to provide a quote, if you contact Cian Dawson on +353(1) 8820841.
Secondly, the council have decided that moving forward buggies spots can no longer be sold, traded nor gifted to anyone in the club. If a member no longer wishes to avail of the buggy space, or resigns membership of the club, the office must be notified, and the buggy space will be retired.
Should a member’s buggy need replacing, they may do so at this time.
Interclub Teams
We a new season, so to a renewed chance for the club to win some more pennants. After the amazing success of 2023, I hope all members are keen to join in and be in with a chance to represent your club at interclub level. We have teams for almost every golfing level and age.
The boards for men’s & mixed teams are located in the pro shop and for ladies in the locker room. Please sign up quick as the chance wont last long, with managers eager to get their panels together.
Snooker Team
As every year, the first club team to get going is the snooker team who have had a very impressive start to the season. A fantastic start for Paul McGaley’s team, has seen them rocket straight to the top of the table with 5 wins from 5, beating Skerries, Clontarf, Howth, St. Anne's and Malahide. The return legs start next week with an away match against Skerries.

Bunker Work Update for 2024
Darr golf have been delayed due to the wet and inclement weather while finishing off works at Foxrock Golf Club.
They have informed us they will be on site in Forrest Little middle of next week. Once on site the last 9 holes of our bunker project will be completed. To facilitate this, we will be playing 12 hole competitions midweek for February and into the first two weeks of March, 18 holes will be available at the weekends.
All going well, and weather permitting, we hope to be playing our new bunkers in Mid to late April. These works will be reviewed weekly and members will have regular updates.
