Jack McDonnell in contention at the final day’s play of East of Ireland Championship

Congratulations and very well done to JACK McDONNELL who finished joint second at 6 under par in the East of Ireland Amateur Championship in Baltray, Co Louth.  Jack got off to a flying start in his final round with Eagle at the 3rd followed by birdie 2 at the 5th which took him into the lead briefly, however Alex Maguire playing a few groups ahead finished strongly with an eagle at the last to post a -8 score.  Jack battled away and birdied the 12th  to get within 1 but unfortunately bogeyed the last to finish with a 69 and in a tie for 2nd with Caolan Rafferty.
