Lady Captain Paula's golf days took place on Sat 16th and Sat 23rd July when over 80 ladies and Juniors/Juveniles competed for the coveted Lady Captain Prize 2022. The weather was very kind on both days despite a little rain on Day 2. The best 15 ladies headed out early on Sat 23rd, followed by the other qualifiers. Our Juvenile girls presented strawberries and cream to the ladies at the 10th tee, a tradition long held in Forrest Little. The girls did a fantastic job and the "lunch" provided a welcome break! The Competition Committee worked late into the afternoon to process the results as the Lady Captain Paula, her family and guests, committee members and other officers of the club, with the Forrest Little ladies, gathered for the evening dinner. An air of anticipation was evident as we all awaited the announcement of the winners. |
Following the tasty dinner, Competition Secretary Geraldine Finnegan began the presentation of prizes to the many prizewinners, both men and women. The prizes were beautiful, a selection of trendy jewellery and some fashionable handbags. The highlight of the evening was the announcement of a most popular winner in Eileen Judd, who, to the applause of the ladies and guests, accepted her prize with delight and pride, regaling us with the story of her rise to fame!! Members of her family were in on the secret and were there to see her receive her prize. Unfortunately, Tony Judd, her son and private coach, was unable to attend as he was away. I'm sure he was very proud of his Mam and will celebrate with her in style on his return. All in all, a fantastic night was held by all! Congratulations to Lady Captain Paula on the success of her prize days 2022. |

Health & Safety The council recently employed the services of a safety consultant to update our safety statement and perform risk assessments where appropriate. These risk identified are being actioned on by council members & I. The safety statement is available in the office if members would like to view.
Course Staff Canteen The course staff canteen quarters have been listed as an area that needs investment. The council have requested me to gather quotes for the canteen and changing room area for the course staff this month. I will be reporting back to council at the August meeting with quotes.
Fire Door Replacement The escape door at the snooker room entrance was recently replaced with a metal door. The council have decided to replace to escape door in the men's locker room with the same door. This will hopefully be completed by the end of August.
Locker Room Security The council recently approved the upgrade of the security of the ladies and gents locker rooms. The keypads and locking systems to all door into the locker rooms have been reinstated and now require a code to gain access. The code for all these doors is 2579. please ensure the doors are kept closed at all times.
Dress Code This month coming I will be updating our course and clubhouse dress code to better reflect current fashion trends in both golf apparel and acceptable attire in the clubhouse. This will be agreed in the August meeting and will be published to the membership in due course. |

Uden Cup
The Uden Cup Team recently played their semi final match against Malahide GC last Saturday. They played 3 matches at home and 2 matches away. Some matches were very close. We won the second match in Malahide on the 14th. A great win away! The first match went down the 19th and we unfortunately lost that. At home the first match went to the 20th and we won. The second match went down the 19th and the team birdied it to win. Finally, the third match, after being down most of the match, won on the 18th green. Overall a great performance by all team members and good luck to them in the Final against Deer Park GC.
The date for the final is to be confirmed at this point. There will be a five matches at home first followed by five matches away in Deer Park the following week.
We hope that as many members can make it out to support the team.
We will update the membership with the date and time of the matches when it is confirmed.

Course Masterplan Update
Ken Kearney recently submitted the suggested Master plan for the golf course and the plan was discussed in the June council meeting. The council voted to undertake initial works on holes 1, 2, 3, 5, 17 & 18. We have reverted back to Ken Kearney who has now gone out to course development companies to tender the works. The companies have a deadline of 5th August to submit their application and quotation for the works involved. This will leave the council to approve the successful applicant at the August council meeting. Updates to follow when I have them.

After high winds at the weekend, we had an unseasonal amount of leaves fall throughout the course. These will be blown into the rough where the mower will mulch them. |
|
 |
Greens: The greens held up really well throughout the high heat in the past 2 weeks. Overnight irrigation along with hand watering during the day were key to keeping drought stress to a minimum. That allowed us to topdress the greens on Monday. They have since been watered, cut and had a foliar feed applied and are looking really good heading into the bank holiday weekend. |
|
 |
Tees: The tees are in good shape after high temps. Again, overnight irrigation and hand watering were key. The tees, along with the approaches, were top dressed this week which will help with smoothness and firmness. |
