Captains Prize 2022
The Captains Prize was held over the past couple of weekends. The scoring was very good in qualifying with John O'Donoghue leading qualifier with a score of 66 nett on Saturday and Con McNamee returning a 67 on Sunday. Final day had 99 players teeing off to try and capture the Clubs most coveted competition for the gents.
The scoring was good just like the weather and with Aaron Collins taking an early clubhouse with the best score of day 2, 67, and overall total of 142. That total stood until the overall winner James Doyle returned a score of 70 on day 2 for a total of 141. Congrats to James on winning the Captains Prize for 2022. Honorable mention to Paul Rooney who had the best two day total of 139 but as he is an intermediate member he couldn't win the overall prize.

Lady Captain Paula Mac Brádaigh's golf days will take place on 16th and 23rd July this year, and we look forward to a great turnout from all our ladies, juniors and juveniles. We hope for sunshine and lots of fun, with competitive golf for all!
Lady Captain Paula will present her prizes at her Dinner on Saturday 23rd July where she will welcome all prize-winners, family and guests, along with Forrest Little ladies. Thanks to our Ladies' Committee and the Social Committee for their organisation of this event. We all hope Lady Captain has an enjoyable night where she can relax with family and friends.

New flags and cup inserts have been put out ahead of Captains and Lady Captains. New towels have also been put out on ball washers.
Tees are looking super after a granular fertiliser 2 weeks ago and a foliar feed. The height of cut on tees and approaches has been lowered to 8mm.

We recently had a couple of stray shots hit fellow players and a vehicle over the past number of weeks. This has given us concern over the safety of our course users.

The council will be erecting a course safety notice sign on the first tee soon.

We to encourage all members to shout fore when a stray shot is hit that could put players in danger. We ask that the whole group take collective responsibility to shout fore.

Course News
Sports Capital Grant
The club was awarded a sports capital grant in excess of €92,000 in the early part of the year. The course & greens committee recruited Ken Kearney to develop a course master plan that will enable the club to best use the sports grant to develop our course. The grant was specifically applied for to redevelop our bunkers. Ken Kearney has therefore created a master plan around this and submitted it to the course & greens committee last week. The master plan was presented to the management council and our course of action will be discussed at this months council meeting.
When we have news on the course of action we will update you in due course.
The club would like to thank Padraic Robinson and Sean Dunne for the work both put into the application for the Sports Capital Grant.

Divot Bags
In other course news could we request that members return divot bags to the first tee stand if you have any extra bags lying around the car or locker?
The team having been busy spraying any remaining trees that had weeds growing.
Bunkers are being edged this week also.
A granular feed has been applied to the tees and approaches too.
