At long last, I finally had a President’s Prize day, on Saturday last. I am delighted that the day turned out to be a very successful event, for many reasons. Importantly, the weather was magnificent, which allowed those taking part to enjoy our lovely golf course and the outdoor catering. My thanks to the following, who greatly helped in making the event a success:- Mark Byrne and his competition committee, Sean & Margaret in the office, Tony and Susan and the Pro Shop staff, Ray and Bar staff and our caterers.
During the day, I had the pleasure of greeting all 212 members who played, either at the beginning, during, or at the completion of their rounds. The praise for the condition of our course was heartening to hear, so sincere thanks to the course staff and Paraic Robinson and his course committee.
I was humbled to receive so many good wishes for my day and also my thanks to the kindness of the many, who presented me with gifts. A special mention of the Lady President, Martine, for supporting me by her presence on the day.
My congratulations to all the prize winners, especially the winner of my prize, Jimmy Penrose, with a fantastic score of 44 points. Incredibly, Jimmy also won my Captain’s Prize in 2009. What a double.
Finally, my best wishes to our Lady Captain Brid, for the success of her Captain’s Prize, which begins on Saturday. The weather looks like being fantastic, so the best of luck to all the ladies taking part.
Thank you all for making my special day so memorable.
